From Birth To Stardom
The youngest of four children, Cardellini was born
in Redwood City, California and now lives in Los Angeles. In her
free time, Cardellini has a love for art, particularly the work
of Margaret Keane. She also enjoys taking martial arts classes.
Her birthday is June 25, and was born in 1975.
Beginning at age 10, when she was asked to sing in
a school play, Cardellini caught the acting bug. She quickly immersed
herself in school productions and drama classes and got her first
big break with a starring role in the television series "Bone
Chillers." Her other TV credits include "Boy Meets World,"
"Promised Land," "Clueless," NBC's "3rd
Rock from the Sun" and others. She has also appeared in the
films "Good Burger" and "Dead Man on Campus,"
in which she played opposite her "Freaks and Geeks" co-star
Jason Segel. A credit which does not appear on her resume is her
successful turn as a contestant and winner on "The Price Is
Right," where she won a fireplace! During the summer of 1999
Cardellini traveled through Europe to star in the play "Lancelot,"
a 14th century Dutch tragedy only recently translated into English
and one of the first secular, pro-women plays ever discovered. The
group finished their tour of Europe with a special performance in
Italy as part of a worldwide medieval play conference.
Linda got her first hit role when she played Lindsay
on NBC's show Freaks and Geeks which ran from 1999-2000.
Freaks and Geeks is about "everything you remember
from high school... that you choose to forget." and basically
follwed two unique groups of teenagers dealing with life in high
school during the 80's.
Linda then got the chance to play a small role in
the movie Legally Blonde (2001) were she played Chutney Windham.
Finally Linda got the chance of a life time and joined
Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Matthew Lillard in
the live-action Scooby-doo movie that cam out in 2002. Even so Linda
was lucky to get the part of Velma as it was rumoured that Jennifer
Love Hewitt or Christina Ricci was going to play Velma, but due
to the nature of the character, being a 'dork' they neeed to find
someone who got fit into this role.
So they found Linda Cardellini, wha has already showed
she is more than capable of playing this part, as she showed in
Freaks And Geeks. Even though Linda's looks are perfect and she's
hot as hell, but she's the kind of girl that could hide it under
a bad wig, glasses, and a bright orange turtleneck.
With the success of the Live-action flick
Scooby Doo, despite critics saying it would be a flop, the movie
producers who were pleased with the box office earnings decided
that they would start working on a sequel. Warner Brothers announced
that Freddie Prinze, Jr.,Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardellini
and Matthew Lillard would all return for the second installment,
which is set for a 2004 release. "Certainly the success of
the opening exceeds our highest expectations." Last weekend,
the antics of computer generated Scooby and his pals Fred, Daphne,
Velma and Shaggy generated $54.2 million at the U.S. box office.
