These are some of Linda's most memorable and meaningful
quotes. She always speaks her mind whether it be from a song, public
function, or magazine article. This is what makes her so wonderful!!

"I think everyone feels lost at times during their high school
years"
"But what I love about Lindsay is that she is basically a
girl trying to find her way in the world. She keeps a lot of her
feelings inside, which can be painful, but she tries so hard to
help people. She is one of those kids who wants to be accepted for
who they are, but isn't sure how to do that - which is what I think
makes her so endearing."
"I had the desire to go to Los Angeles, and it's paid off
for me. I can't complain." --Cardellini on deciding to pursue
film and television roles in Los Angeles instead of stage work in
New York; Daily News, August 19, 1999
"I love cartoons and childlike things, and this was my favorite.
You can't escape it. It has always been on television, at least
for my life. If someone would have told me when I was a kid I would
be playing Velma in a Hollywood movie, I'd have said they were crazy."
"I was a little anxious about taking on something that has
30 years' worth of fans and has never been made into a live-action
film. But being a fan, I felt if anybody was equipped to do it,
I could."
Got anything in common with Velma? "I think we have some similarities.
I wear a costume, and I have better eyesight, but I think we're
both dedicated, loyal friends and love our jobs. I tend to keep
getting cast in roles like this, so I have to wonder what it is
about me. But I do love to play smart women."
So, what about that sweater? "You know, it was the middle
of summer when we first got to Australia to film this. I didn't
expect it to be so humid. I was adamant about wearing the turtleneck,
and it really kicked me in the end. But by the end of the shoot,
it was winter, so I was perfectly comfortable while poor Sarah had
to run around in that little dress!"
How was acting with a CGI dog? "Complicated. There were times
when it got a little frustrating, because it's definitely a skill
to be able to keep your eyes in one place while somebody is reading
the lines offscreen. It becomes an exercise of the imagination,
though--which is something every actor wants to do."
What was your favorite thing that didn't make the final cut? "There
was one scene where Velma sings and dances on a piano after she
has had a few special drinks. She sings "Can't Take My Eyes
Off of You," but we don't know whether she's singing it to
Daphne or Fred."
What snack makes you go Scooby? "Donuts. I can't afford to
eat them very often, but I love 'em.'
I think for me, I'd watched the cartoon ever since I was little.
It was my favorite cartoon growing up so I knew a lot of her mannerisms.
It was funny to be able to, as your homework or your research, to
watch cartoons. So I'd watch and see what her mannerisms were and
that was really fun. And just how she's drawn and what her mouth
does and what her face does and how her voice is. I thought it was
really fun and then you get to fill in the gaps. I thought it was
fun to make her extremely sensitive but also emotionally repressed
as an actor, you're sort of at the mercy of the material that you
receive and if you find something and you like it, you have to hope
they like you. So, it's a question of what's out there more than
deciding what I'd like to play and trying to find that. For me,
I love to act. It doesn't matter what genre. As long as it's an
interesting character. Maybe it will be something fun. Maybe it
will be something terribly honest and emotionally raw. I don't know.
I guess I'll have to see.
I guess if I had to be Velma forever I might be a little worried
but I don't know. If people love the movie that much, I think that's
exciting and hopefully I'm a good enough actor that it won't be
a problem but if it is, then it wasn't meant to be for me to be
something else.
